As per Sec 173 of CA 2013, small companies should hold 1 meeting in each half of calender year which is the minimum criteria. Companies have held one or more meetings in the quarter Jan to March 2014 under CA 1956. Can such meetings be considered as meetings for 1st half of calendar yr 2014 under CA 2013 and can such companies hold their 1st BM for FY 1415 in the last week of Aug 2014?

minimum one meeting in each half of calender year is required and the meeting in the quarter Jan to March 2014 will be considered as meeting for first half of calender year. so company can call its Board Meeting in the last week of August 2014.

Yes the meeting held during Jan-March will be considered for complying the requirement of one meeting in the calendar year
